The Overlay For the Underplay

In some circles it is called the "okey-doke" in others "smoke and mirrors." These are appropriate descriptions for the campaign John McCain is running to become the chief executive of the United States of America. Senator McCain panicked after Barack Obama's speech at the Democratic convention. After weeks of getting little or no coverage from the media, he picked an unknown female Governor to be his running mate. Since the media was caught off guard the print and television coverage of the election has spent almost two weeks trying to get a handle on Sarah Palin. Who is she? What does she stand for? In the meantime, the McCain campaign shoots out the most vile and libelous attacks against Barack Obama. In our circle, we call this "the overlay for the underplay." In other words, I use one thing to distract you and while you are distracted I make the move I need to make. A case in point would be Junebug's tactics to take Big Mike's girl. Instead of going directly at her which would send up a red flag and may cause her to tell Big Mike. Junebug "drysnitches" (indirect snitching) by dropping hints that Big Mike has another woman. When Big Mike's girls needs to be comforted from his cheating ways, Junebug is there with open arms. The McCain campaign is trying to steal the election. The overlay is Sarah Palin. People have become so embroiled in a conversation about her qualifications and track record in Alaska. On the other hand, the Barack Obama campaign has to spend time trying to counter McCain's blatant lies. As a result, there is no real discussion about the fact that the economy is in dire straits, health care disparities continue to plague the working poor and there is no viable end game for the war in Iraq. So what does this mean for Barack? It means that he has go lace up his sneakers and get into G-mode. Being laid back is allowed on the block until somebody says something about your momma. Well, Barack that is where we are right now. So, it is time for you to come off the porch and handle your business. When somebody got an ass whipping coming you give it to him. You cannot wait for the debates. Go to McCain's house (if you can figure out which one he is at) or show up at one of his campaign stops and tell him "here I am homie, I hear you been talking shit." Then you debate him right there on his turf in front of his mob. The way to beat the overlay for the underplay is to nip it in the bud.
